XPeng has become the latest Chinese brand to launch onto the UK market, with an intention for rapid growth.
At an event in London the company unveiled its first UK-bound model, the G6 mid-sized electric coupe SUV, among an impressive line-up of products on show that included “the world’s first AI-defined vehicle” and even a flying car.
Founded in 2014, XPeng has grown fast, with 620,000 electric vehicles so far delivered around the world. The company made its European debut in Norway in 2021, and has since debuted in 13 more European markets, opening in France last year (2024).

The company has also signed some major partners – in January (2025), XPeng announced two strategic partnerships with Volkswagen and BP Pulse, to create a super-fast charging network and explore cutting-edge solutions together.
In the UK XPeng vehicles will be distributed by the long-established International Motors Ltd (IML), which already oversees Subaru and Isuzu among others. Plans involve having around 20 outlets by the end of 2025, while by the end of 2028 XPeng could be selling five different models in the UK.
Launching the British expansion, XPeng Vice Chairman and President Brian Gu described the UK as a crucial step in the brand’s internationalisation strategy. “Not only has it become the largest EV market in Europe in 2024, but it is also one of the most significant right-hand-drive markets worldwide,” he said.
“Our launch in the UK, in partnership with International Motors Ltd, marks a significant step in XPeng’s European and global expansion – we are excited to bring a new era of smarter, more sustainable mobility to the UK market and globally,” Gu added.
“With XPeng’s cutting-edge proprietary technology – ranging from futuristic design and impressive range to ultra-fast charging – we are confident that our vehicles will resonate with UK consumers, offering exceptional quality, innovation, and an outstanding driving experience.”
IML Managing Director William Brown described the partnering with XPeng as a source of pride; “Together, we are committed to shaping the future of electric mobility by providing market-leading vehicles and services. And we can’t wait to start our exciting journey with XPeng”.
The launch event coincided with the opening of pre-orders for the XPeng G6, for which prices start at £39,990 with deliveries beginning in March 2025. Highlights among the model’s specification include thew ability to use 800-volt superchargers.
By the end of 2025, XPeng aims to have a presence in more than 60 countries and regions. Business Motoring will report further developments from the brand’s UK expansion as we get them.
