The ë-C4 is a five-door family hatch, falling into the same bracket as the likes of the VW Golf or Ford Focus or Volkswagen Golf, although it has a touch of the SUVs with a higher ride height providing a better 'command' position from he driving seat. As part of the Stellantis family, shares its underpinnings and drivetrain with the electric versions of the Peugeot e208 and 2008, Vauxhall Corsa, Mokka and DS3 Crossback.
Advancements in battery technology have made electric cars and LCVs viable and there’s a growing number of models available. Then there’s the financial incentives: a 0% Benefit-in-Kind tax on zero emission, fully electric vans, making e-LCVs more affordable than ever for those businesses.
It’s basically a van so don’t expect car-like agility and performance, but it is a flexible and functional family conveyance. You won’t experience a typically Citroen ‘cushion’ ride but the suspension is set up well enough to ride out the general road lumps and bumps while steering is light which, allied to a very tight turning circle, makes the Berlingo very manoeuvrable.
The e-SpaceTourer’s van heritage also means that it’s not very light on its feet with a top speed of just 80mph and a 0-62mph acceleration time pf 13.1 seconds. You can certainly live with that given its carrying capacity, but a 143 mile range? – not so much.
