Kia gets the Audi influence for new Venga supermini

THE ALL-NEW Kia Venga supermini will get a dash of Audi style.

The latest Kia supermini has been designed under design chief Peter Schreyer, recruited from Audi to give the Korean company a much more European style.

Prices will range from L11,500 up to L15,500 with three trim levels and three engines, 1.4- and 1.4-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel.

Additional European input includes a special suspension set-up that has been developed with Lotus Engineering specifically for UK models.

The Venga wil be Kia’s third model in the supermini sector. But the Venga promises to be a different proposal to the current Rio and Soul models.

“Soul is very much a niche model, funky in its styling and appealing to a younger market. Rio is the entry point for our supermini customers while Venger takes us into the higher end of the segment,” commented Michael Cole, managing director of Kia.

The biggest seller is expected to be the lead-in Venga 1 diesel featuring Kia’s stop-start system.

Main competitors are considered to be the Vauxhall Meriva, Nissan Note and Ford Fusion. Like the larger Kia Cee’d hatchback, the Venga will come with a seven-year, 100,000 mile warranty
