THESE are the first pictures of the all-new replacement for Insignia – the all-new Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport.

The new model will play a significant part in Vauxhall’s fleet sales objectives and promises lower emissions, better running costs and four-wheel drive technology – as well as significant technological advances.

Based on the Monza Concept, the new Insignia Grand Sport features coupe styling in a practical five door format.

The new shape offers a low Cd figure of 0.26 and coupled with a lightweighting strategy the latest Insignia is 175kg lighter than its predecessor.

With a new eight-speed transmission as well, the Insignia Grand Sport should offer highly competitive CO2 emission figures that better the current ecoFlex model which has CO2 emissions of 114g/km.

Other significant features of the new Insignia Grand Sport include and all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring.

There is a raft of technologies to make driving the Insignia Grand Sport safer, more relaxing and more comfortable than before. These include:

  • Next generation IntelliLux LED matrix lighting;
  • Lane Keep Assist;
  • Head-up Display;
  • Unique AGR-certified premium seats;
  • Front- and rear-seat heating; and
  • A heated windshield – just some examples.

Infotainment and connectivity features include the latest generation IntelliLink systems and Vauxhall OnStar, which with the launch of the Insignia Grand Sport, will offer even more functionality for drivers.

It is also the first Vauxhall with an active aluminium bonnet, improving pedestrian protection.

The new Insignia Grand Sport will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show before going on sale in late spring in the UK.

James Taylor (right), Vauxhall’s fleet sales director, commented:

Taylor: key model

“It’s a very exciting time for Vauxhall with five major product launches in 2017, that will see us add to our range and enter new segments.

“The all-new Insignia, available next year in Grand Sport, Sports Tourer and Country Tourer body styles, is a key model for Vauxhall Fleet.

“We’ll work early to ensure leasing companies understand the all-new vehicle, where it competes within its class and the range of new technologies that can be found on the car such as next-gen IntelliLux LED headlights.

“We are confident that the leasing companies will be as enthusiastic about selling the all-new Insignia as they have been the outgoing model.”

In 2016 Vauxhall sold 33,700 Insignia models and a total of 270,490 since launch. The UK is the biggest market in Europe for the Insignia.
