C-X17 created as a design study to showcase aluminium monocoque architecture, codenamed iQ[Al]. All future Jaguars will be built on this platform.
- The SUV concept displays the possible body styles we can expect to see from Jaguar in the future
- The first product from the new iQ[Al] architecture will be a new premium C/D segment saloon – a small Jaguar in other words, designed to compete with the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class. Expect to see it in 2015.
- Power for the new small Jaguar – and future Jaguars – will come from a range of engine including new efficient four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. These will be built in Wolverhampton as part of a £500 million investment, operational from 2015.
- The small Jaguar saloon will be the first to beat the 100g/km barrier – giving the small Jaguar a company car tax banding of 18% (diesel) in the 2015/16 tax year.
- The C-X17 measures 4,718mm long and 1,649mm tall. A low stance with 23-inch alloy wheels gives the C-X17 a sportingly aggressive presence
- The interior features four individual bucket seats. Two additional rear-mounted in the boot floor swing out for occasional recreational use
- A centre tunnel bisects the length of the C-X17. This incorporates an Interactive Surface Console – Jaguar says it’s a multi-passenger touchscreen infotainment hub made with transparent acrylic glass. The in-car digital audio system is made by British specialist audio firm Meridian.
