MEET Craig Day, the newest member of the Small Fleet Leasing Federation.

Keen footballer Craig keeps his eye on the ball in the broker market, now as managing director of Trublu Vehicle Solutions, his latest venture.

His previous role was to set up the web-based brand Intelligent Car Leasing where he worked for nearly four of his 13 years in the broker sector.

But, wanting to spend more time with his young family, he called time on his commutes north of the border to Glasgow and now his office is in a former farmhouse 20 minutes from Swindon and ten minutes from the M4.

The rural business park setting comes complete with a hotel, spa and golf course, but he confesses: “Golf doesn’t come naturally to me – I’ll need a little more practice before I’m much of a challenger in the Federation competitions!”

But he’s far from lacking competitive spirit – quite the opposite! On the sporting front he plays football in the Wiltshire League and he runs – earlier in the year he ran three half marathons in consecutive weekends in Devizes, Bath and Reading, for Intelligent Car Leasing’s chosen charity Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

And on the business front this is his second full start-up – the first was another brokerage in the South, at Chippenham.

It was in March 2015 that used his decade of senior management experience in the broker industry – working with SMEs, owner-managed businesses as well as corporates – to set up Trublu, with FCA approval in July so that he could start providing vehicle leasing, fleet management services, day-to-day vehicle sourcing including contract hire, and funding solutions.

He says: “I pride myself on a personal level of service to our customers and am looking to grow the business across a five-year plan to supply 800 vehicles per annum by the end of year five with a team of five sales staff along with a support team.”

And his business is already nationwide – including his old stamping ground in Glasgow!
