Improved driving at work manual for business car managers to help improved driving at work duty of care
THE British Vehicle Rental & Leasing Association (BVRLA) has launched a revised Guide to Driving at Work, a handy tool for business car managers looking after small fleets of company cars.
This online reference manual can be used to manage your health and safety at work.
The BVRLA recommends it should be read by all those who drive on business.
The Guide to Driving at Work offers advice on how to put together a driving at work policy to ensure your business has taken all reasonable steps to protect your employees as well as other users on the road.
The new Guide to Driving at Work includes:
- Revised and updated sections on the vehicle, the driver and the journey which take into account recent legislative and technological developments
- Practical case studies that demonstrate the business benefits of putting into practice many of the guide’s recommendations
- Information on how telematics may help to encourage safer driving and reduce your company’s accident-associated costs
- Advice on towing, loading up and equipment – added to help van operators
- A section on grey fleet (those drivers who use their own private car on business)
“Every person driving at work presents a risk, and health and safety law applies just as much to on-the-road activities as it does to the conventional workplace,” commented John Lewis, the BVRLA chief executive who also chairs the Department for Transport funded work-related road safety programme – Driving for Better Business.
“The information in this guide is equally applicable to drivers covering many miles each day or just a few each month.”
