Zapmap and The Green Finance Institute reveal EV charge point utilisation

First Gridserve Electric Retail Hub opens at Dobbies

Dobbies Swindon has five dual charging units, which allow two cars to charge at once at Medium Power speeds, for a longer stay at the location. There are also two High Power chargers for a quick top up for those passing on the nearby A419. The hub features 12 charging bays to ensure space for all visitors including two accessible bays to support both larger vehicles and disabled customers.

Save more money when charging your EV from 1st July

With the average UK driver covering 6800 miles a year, smart charging on an off-peak tariff in a typical EV would cost just £127.50 for a year’s worth of driving with Octopus Intelligent at 7.5p/kWh. At the new Standard Variable Tariff of 30p/kWh, that same annual mileage would cost £510. By comparison, the same mileage in an equivalent petrol car would cost a driver more than £1100. The current rate of 34p/kWh has been in place since 1 October 2022.

More accurate range labelling needed on E-vans

Weather is proving to be much greater than originally thought with some AFP members seeing a drop in range approaching 50% during the coldest winter days on occasions when there was no opportunity to precondition the battery. However, other issues are emerging, too. Payload was already known to have a negative impact – although its extent has proven to be a surprise to some operators – but the effect of commonly-used fittings such as roof racks and ladder loaders are proving noticeable.

Edwin James Group targets carbon reduction with electric vans from Fleet Alliance

The Group operates a national fleet of 250 vehicles - 230 vans and 20 cars - from 16 offices and service centres throughout the UK, with a head office in Uddingston, Glasgow. The transition to electric power has already begun and the company car fleet is now all-electric with a number of makers represented, including Tesla, Volkswagen, Skoda and Kia.
