HARKING back to the film-star glamour of luxury convertible four-seater Mercedes-Benz boulevard cruisers, the German manufacturer has relaunched its Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet.

Top-down highlights

  • S-Class Cabriolet recaptures the glamour of past luxury rag-tops
  • Top operates in less than 20secs up to speeds of 37mph;
  • Powered by 4.7-litre turbo V8 or AMG 5.5-litre 577hp monster.

Exclusive design features, fine materials with high-class interior and state-of-the-art technology in the S-Class hopes to recapture the glamour of its luxury drop-tops of the ’60s.

Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the new S-Class Cabriolet Mercedes-Benz is making claims on being the most comfortable cabriolet in the world.

It boasts comfort-enhancing automatic wind protection system AIRCAP, AIRSCARF neck-level heating system, heated armrests, seat heating also in the rear plus the intelligent fully automatic climate control.

Mercedes claims the top opens or closes in less than 20 seconds and can be operated at speeds of up to 37mph.

The Cabriolet shares features from the S-Class saloon including air suspension which can be set either for comfort or sport performance.  Its 4.7-litre turbocharged V-8 engine delivers 449hp and 516ft lb of torque mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Naturally there’s the AMG-built option with a 5.5-litre turbocharged V-8 pumping out a wig ripping 577hp.

Details on prices and availability have yet to be announced.
