IT’S celebration time as car and van rental company Thrifty raises £105k for Hospiscare, a charity helping the terminally ill in the West Country.

Exeter-based Thrifty, which has 97 branches across the UK, gives the charity £1 for every web booking made via its website and encourages staff in dress-down days, raffles and other activities to raise money for this worthwhile cause.

Thrifty MD Roger Hancock said: “Hospiscare cares for people with any terminal illness and its work cannot be praised highly enough. Thrifty is proud to support such a worthy cause and are absolutely delighted to have raised funds in excess of £100k to aid the wonderful work they do.

“Being a local charity the entire Thrifty team really gets behind the fundraising efforts and we have developed a strong working partnership with Hospiscare which we hope will continue in the future.”

Hospiscare CEO Glynis Atherton commented: “The donations received from Thrifty make a huge difference to the care we can provide to 2,000 patients each year in Exeter, Mid and East Devon, and everyone connected with Hospiscare is extremely grateful for their continued support.

“In addition to providing significant financial contributions, Thrifty are kind enough to help Hospiscare in a number of other ways too. We have built a fantastic relationship over the last five years and I very much hope we can develop this further and continue to work together going forwards.”
