THE existing CO2 emissions based 13- band (Bands A to M) Vehicle Excise Duty structure remains in place for 2015/16. There are new rates, though, in Band H (166-175g/km) and above from 01 April 2015. Check out the chart below.
The key points are:
- New cars with CO2 emissions of up to 100g/km remain exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty.
- New cars with CO2 emissions of up to 130g/km remain exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty in the first year.
- A supplementary first-year Vehicle Excise Duty rate (or Showroom Tax) adds up to £595 (for Band H cars and above) to the recommended on the road retail prices of qualifying cars.
- In 2015/16, the alternative fuel discounted annual Vehicle Excise Duty rate remains at £10 for all qualifying cars.
