While learning how to drive is an exciting rite of passage, it can also be a stressful and challenging skill that’s hard to master.

This is why so many learner drivers ask a friend or loved one to give them extra lessons in their vehicle, although you must remember to invest in learner driver insurance in this instance.

But what are the best cars in which to learn? Here are three of the best models to keep in mind:

#1. ‘Volkswagen Up!’ With a Tried and Trusted Brand

Volkswagen is renowned as one of the most accessible and reliable vehicle brands in the UK, and one that provides an increasingly viable option for learner drivers.

The Up! Model is a compact but efficient vehicle that’s easy to handle, with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol powered motor offering excellent power and performance in equal measure.

The engine should also deliver in excess of 50mpg, while a CO2 emissions rating of 117g/km stands comparison with any make or model in the marketplace.

Other viable Volkswagen options include the SEAT Mii and Skoda Citigo, which are equally impressive part of a family of compact cars that are excellent for learners and newly-qualified drivers.

#2. The Good Old Ford Fiesta

Few automotive brands are as trusted or well-known as Ford, while its trailblazing Fiesta model remains one of the best and most popular all-rounders available to drivers.

Certainly, modern-day Ford Fiestas are easy to drive and operate without being overly compact, while the car remains incredibly affordable and offers huge value for money in the real-time marketplace.

Even as the market continues to evolve, the Ford Fiesta is still one of the best super-minis that you can buy, which goes some way to explaining why there are around 1.6 million such vehicles driving around on UK roads.

#3. The Skoda Fabia – A Tech-Led and Safety Conscious Car

The Skoda Fabia is another easy to drive and operate car, and one that has a particularly precise and comfortable feel during handling.

This model is also incredibly tech-led, with its outstanding rear parking sensors ideal for parking in compact spaces if you’re a new driver.

There’s also a touchscreen infotainment system included in the car, which sits alongside Apple CarPlay, Android Auto smartphone connectivity and automatic emergency breaking to create a fun and safe ride.

The latter feature also contributes heavily to the Fabia’s group one insurance rating, which is another boon in the eyes of new drivers whose premiums are likely to be sky high!
