105 – Audi given car park graze

Share

9 January 2009

It was a real pleasure to get back into the Audi.

I hadn’t needed to drive the A4 for over a week. So getting back behind the wheel was a real pleasure.

The Audi A4 is much bigger inside than most executive cars in this class – the BMW 3 Series for example. And just has a very grown up feel: the leather on the steering wheel and the gear knob provide a tactile and upmarket intimacy. And the ride, though firm, cossets you along the motorway.

I drove down to Sussex for the VW Golf launch. I parked in the hotel car park – where the parking bays, in a wide expansive area, are defined by logs.

So a buffoon must have been going some to mount the log and scrape the paint on the front of the Audi. I was so angry. It was just so unnecessary. What level of skill must you have to get it wrong in such a big car park?

The guys at the hotel are looking through the CCTV footage. But I guess it’s a case of a smart repair and a £100 bill for someone else’s crass driving error.

A4 damaged in a wide car park – thanks
