218 – Mazda Blenheim Triathlon

Share

9 June 2009

I think I’m just recovering.

I was part of the Team Mazda squad taking part in the Mazda Blenheim Triathlon last Sunday.

Blenheim makes a magnificent backdrop. And having done the event last year I was much less tense than on my tri debut.

Pictured is the Team Mazda squad – all trussed up in our swimming hats and wets suits – prior to the start of the swim in the lake. I’m third in from the right in the back row. And to my right is Sam Hardy from Auto Express who also writes the Business Car Manager road tests.

After the swim, there’s a 20km bike ride and then a 5km run – with all the hills that entails of the Blenheim estate.

It was a great event and fortunately the weather held off. I was very pleased with my time – I wanted to dip under 1hr 45mins – and did it in 1hr38mins. So I was really pleased. Sam, with the benefit of youth (ahem!) was two minutes up the road.

Swm, bike, run
