Toyota iQ for Sport: design study shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show is generating genuine interest

Toyota design study receives positive reaction

I WENT out for a beer last night with a friend of mine. And very pleasant it was too. Karl, who is the chief operating officer of a small business, mentioned that he was rather taken with the Toyota iQ for Sports in my Frankfurt Motor Show report.

Karl currently runs a Mazda MX-5 but really fancies the new iQ. “It’s such an intellectually intriguing car,” explained Karl . “More grown up than a Smart Coupe, the iQ is so compact thanks to all those space-saving innovations such as the flat fuel tank under the floor.” I agree. It’s a fantastic piece of engineering miniaturisation, but one that is fully usable by adults.

The conversation then meandered off as to whether the 1.0 or 1.3-litre versions would be more appropriate – considering Karl needs the car for both urban and motorway work.

“However, an iQ Sport would really take my fancy!” Toyota – are you listening?
