RATHER good news during the week. My son, Matt, passed his test at the first attempt. Great news. And well done to him. He’s listened and learned – as I have on occasions – to the advice from his driving coach mentor Craig McCall.
Craig took these pictures of the momentous occasion.
I gather Matt and Craig have enjoyed plenty of conversations about cars and driving during the lessons. “I’ll miss them!” said Matt.
However, he will be seeing more of Craig as the PassPlus test is part of DriveTech Advantage’s offering. Along with some motorway and night time driving coaching.
These DriveTech driving coaching sessions, with their workshop elements, are an excellent way to minimise the risks and help teenagers understand some of the risks they face. And provide driving skills for life.
After all, a recent AA Insurance survey pointed out that as a nation we are getting into cars earlier than ever before. And that one in five teenagers will experience a serious crash in the first year of driving, while young men are twice as likely to be killed or seriously injured than a young woman. That, as a parent, is a scary statistic.
I trust, with the skills Matt has learned from Craig, he will avoid becoming one of those statistics.
