Toyota Yaris: one of the cars involved in the latest Toyota recall

IF you drive a Toyota RAV4, Yaris, Urban Cruiser or one of the company’s Hilux pick up trucks on business, then your car may be the subject of a recall by Toyota.

The company has issued a recall of 35,124 vehicles that it says may be affected as part of a worldwide 6.5m recall.

However, despite the breadth of the recall, there has been no accidents or injuries reported, says Toyota.

The recall is over three separate areas depending on model: airbag, seat rail spring and steering column bracket.

The areas covered in the recall are:

  • Spiral cable in airbag assembly – models affected RAV4 and Toyota Hilux built between June 2004 and December 2010
  • Seat rail sprint – models affected Yaris and Urban Cruiser built within the period January 2005 and August 2010
  • Steering column bracket – models affected Yaris and Urban Cruiser built between September 2005 to February 2009

Toyota vehicles have been the subject of many recalls over the past few years, yet it has a good reputation for handling the recalls with owners.

What action should you take?

You can see if your own business car or pickup is affected by using a ‘look up’ feature on the Toyota website. Go here: Toyota Recall Checker

Toyota says it will write to all affected registered owners.
