Brian Blessed booms out instructions on TomTom satnav

Brian Blessed: providing a more shouty in-car experience

Editor’s Blog on Brian Blessed booming out for TomTom

THE last time I saw Brian Blessed was on stage at the Wimbledon Theatre. At Christmas last year. It was panto time and Brian Blessed – the bearded one with the booming voice – was hamming it up in Aladdin. Along with Pamela Anderson, although that’s another story…

“Oh no it isn’t, oh yes it is!” Etc.

Anyway, Brian Blessed, the king-sized Yorkshireman, has now found another stage: as the director of communications for TomTom. Literally.

Thespian Blessed is now bellowing out driving instructions through TomTom’s sat nav systems. And it’s all thanks to a Facebook campaign launched by Richard Gardner from Manchester. Richard wanted to make driving more ‘shouty’ and organised a ‘campaign to get Brian Blessed to do a voice over for my sat nav’. After more than 25,000 people signed up, TomTom and the actor agreed to record the voice.

I rather like this idea
