Sir Stirling Moss: received the President’s Trophy for his lifelong commitment to motorsport

Business Writer of the Year – editor commended

IT’S December, so it’s the time of the Guild of Motoring Writers’ annual bash and awards at the RAC Club in Pall Mall, London.

It’s always a great moment to catch up with old friends and to see if you’ve won any gongs at the end of the dinner.

Last year I won Business Writer of the Year. This year you are saved an insanely grinning picture of me picking up the trophy, you might be pleased to know. Yrs tly was commended in second place, but the new ProvaPR Business Writer of the Year is the BBC’s industry writer Jorn Madslien – congratulations to Jorn.

Jorn also received the Renault UK/GoMW Journalist of the Year award for comprehensively raising the profile of the motoring industry at the BBC and broadening the subject’s appeal on a national level.

The most significant presentation of the night, though, was reserved for England’s greatest ever racing driver
