THE new Skoda Octavia will cut SME small fleet running costs and help company car drivers at the fuel pumps with a wallet-saving 83mpg model.

The 1.6 diesel Skoda Octavia GreenLine will also offer company car drivers reduced benefit in kind company car tax exposure thanks to CO2 emissions of 89g/km – a 13% tax banding in 2013/14.

Prices for the new Skoda Octavia will be announced in January 2013, while the range will go on sale from March.

Outstanding fuel economy is not the only key feature of the new Skoda Octavia: there’s plenty of passenger and load space inside the new saloon-profile but five-door hatchback car.

“The third generation Octavia is the biggest, most practical, lightest and most eco-friendly Octavia ever,” said Skoda chairman, Professor Vahland.

“It’s a compact class car offering the space of a larger class car, “Professor Vahland continued, “and all at an affordable price.”

The boot can carry 590 litres of luggage, which extends to a voluminous 1580 litres with the rear seats folded down.

There will be three levels of trim – S, SE and Elegance – and a high level of standard specification that will appeal to business car drivers, such as alloy wheels, Bluetooth, and leather on the Elegance model, while satellite navigation is expected to be standard across the range.
