THE Toyota Yaris has been given a revamp for 2014.
Alongside the usual trim and spec improvements, there’s an efficiency boost for the Yaris hybrid, which now has CO2 emissions of just 75g/km in place of the previous already impressive 79g/km.
That’s the sort of performance usually only achieved by plug-in models, which benefit from a top-up from the mains to flatter their tailpipe emissions. The hybrid’s combined fuel consumption is 85.6 mpg.
The headline engine choice for the Yaris range is unchanged, with two petrol engines, a diesel and a hybrid.
The three-cylinder 1.0-litre petrol unit has been improved for greater thermal efficiency, meaning better fuel economy and CO2 emissions below 100g/km. Other tweaks improve the suspension, handling and ride comfort, as well as reducing noise and vibration levels.
Externally, Toyota has freshened up the Yaris’ grille and headlamps which use new projector technology for high and low beams and incorporate LED daytime running lights. Inside, the dashboard has been given a slimmer appearance and there’s a shorter gear-stick. Toyota says that the quality of trim materials has been improved, too.
The revised Toyota Yaris goes on sale later in the summer – UK prices ans specs will be announced later.
