SEAT Exeo SE 2.0 TDI CR 143PS 4dr
What is it?
The SEAT Exeo – a brand new entrant into the business saloon car market. SEAT has never had a car to rival the Ford Mondeo, Honda Accord or Citroen C5, and has based this new car on the last-generation Audi A4. The Exeo offers a tax-efficient 2.0-litre diesel in a package that’s exceptionally well specified. There are four models in the range – S, SE, Sport and SE Lux. This is the SE with 143PS diesel engine priced at £18,345 on the road.
What’s hot?
- Exceptional value – this Exeo is the same price as a Golf diesel…
- …let alone an equivalent Mondeo or Accord
- And there’s a standard equipment list the length of your arm…
- …alloys, dual zone climate control, Bluetooth, parking and tyre sensors…
- …there’s not enough room to list them all
- Usually the spec makes up for a poor drive; not this car
- The ride is firm but compliant
- The engine is gutsy with plenty of low-down pull
- Low noise levels while cruising
- Big boot but the aperture is narrow and limits usefulness
- Low company car tax rating
- And over 50mpg fuel economy
What’s not?
- You could spend a lot of time explaining your car choice…
- …despite its rationality
- Diesel engine vibration through pedals
- Brakes need a firm push to make them really work
- Leather steering wheel feels more plasticky than hide-like
