TOYOTA has revealed that its forthcoming hydrogen fuel-cell saloon will be called the Toyota Mirai.
Company President and CEO Akio Toyoda used a web video released just prior to the new car’s official launch to announce that it would be called Toyota Mirai, which means “future” in Japanese.
Toyoda said: “This is a car that lets you have it all with no compromises”, a reference to the car’s ability to travel 300 miles on a single tank of hydrogen, easily beating most of the battery-powered electric vehicles on the market, while emitting only water vapour.
