Hyundai i30

Hyundai i30 1.6 CRDi Comfort

Hyundai i30 1.6 CRDi Comfort 5dr

What is it?

THE most business-friendly i30 you can buy. Hyundai’s neat hatchback gets a frugal, low emission 113bhp 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine, tidy handling and a well-built cabin. Great-value pricing in entry-level Comfort trim, the i30 costs an incredible £4,795 less than the equivalent Focus.

What’s hot?

  • That bargain price for a start
  • Smooth diesel returns 49.6mpg…
  • …and feels punchy on the move
  • Emits just 119g/km of CO2 for a 13% company car tax band
  • Calm, quiet and relaxing on the motorway
  • Taut handling and decent steering mean fun handling
  • Built-in iPod dock is a great feature
  • Build quality is solid and dependable
  • Should be cheap to service
  • Unlimited mileage, five-year warranty

What’s not?

  • Design still looks bland
  • The ride can be a bit stiff at low speed
  • Not as big as a Focus or Golf so not as much space inside
  • Dull interior with lots of black plastic
