Story: RALPH MORTON
It’s always excellent to see an organisation going forward – and ACFO, the Association of Car Fleet Operators to give it its full handle, is certainly doing that.
Julie Jenner has been re-elected to the post of chairman, a position which she has served so well since 2006.
More importantly, ACFO has created a deputy chairman role to support her work. It should be noted that all ACFO work is voluntary – in addition to the board members’ full time fleet operation commitments.
So joining Julie at ACFO’s top table will be Damian James, head of operations at Bracknell Forest Council.
They will be supported by the board of ACFO directors: John Pryor, car fleet and travel manager, Arcadia Group; Phil Redman, fleet manager, IBM UK; Caroline Sandall, fleet manager, Barclays Bank; and Brian Ingham, fleet manager at T W Birk & Sons who also serves as ACFO’s finance director.
Why is this of interest to you as a small business owner?
Well ACFO has become more increasingly involved in fleet industry-related talks about the future of company cars, notably with Government departments such as HM Revenue & Customs and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
The post of deputy chairman has been created to help meet these increased demands, as ACFO participates in Governmental decisions that will affect your SME company car policy as it takes action on company car issues.
When not acting as chair of ACFO, Julie is key solutions manager at the contract hire and fleet management company GE Capital Fleet Services.
