Verdict on the Aston Martin Rapide S

Thanks to these changes, the Rapide S is now a better car than it ever has been.

The old six-speed automatic was occasionally a bit tentative and unresponsive but this new eight-speed unit is a huge improvement.

It boosts performance and it improves fuel economy, which – when combined with the comfortable ride and sharp handling – make the Rapide S a great all-rounder.

The problem is, it’s still hugely expensive to buy and to run, especially as a car you might want to run through the company.

If you can stretch to it, though, this updated Aston Martin Rapide S feels like a very special car, indeed.
