Racing ahead: Audi A3 top choice for SMEs

THE Audi A3 is the number one choice for business.

At least that’s what Fleet Alliance customers think.

The Audi A3 hatchback was the most ordered business car during 2011, the premium marque hatchback outgunning the Volkswagen Golf into second place, and Vauxhall’s Insignia executive into third.

Not only was the Audi A3 the most ordered car by Fleet Alliance’s business customers, Audi was the brand that was most in demand.

Managing director of Fleet Alliance, Martin Brown, says that Audi’s double top success was down to the user chooser element among Fleet Alliance customers, particularly at the SME end of the fleet market.

“Audi models are desirable with low carbon emissions and, for smaller companies with a greater degree of user choosers, they are proving to be the ideal choice. Most popular is the A3, which continues the downsizing trend away from upper medium cars to smaller models that we have seen across the board in the fleet market.”

Martin also added: “Another feature of last year’s order bank was the number of vehicles our customers ordered from manufacturers such as Skoda and Kia. Their success shows that provided their vehicles have competitive whole life costs, customers are prepared to choose makes which would not traditionally have been considered strong fleet manufacturers.”

The Fleet Alliance top 10 most ordered models

2 VW Golf
3 Vauxhall Insignia
4 Ford Fiesta
5 VW Passat
6 Ford Mondeo
7 Audi A4
8 Vauxhall Astra
