Bags of business appeal for new Focus

THE new Ford Focus goes on sale from March 2011 with prices starting at L15,995.

The new car is crammed with high-tech features that are sure to appeal to drivers and business car managers.

All models will feature Bluetooth phone connectivity with voice contol, Thatcham alarm, and DAB digital radio.

Additional standard features include Ford Easy Fuel – so drivers cannot mistakenly fill up with the incorrect fuel – front, side and curtain airbags, anti-skid ESP, anti-lock ABS brakes and Isofix child seat attachments.

There will be greater stability, too, thanks to Ford’s Torque Vectoring Control technology which was first introduced on the new Ford C-MAX. This electronic system balances the distribution of engine torque – the ‘forward shove’ from the engine – between the driven front wheels to optimise grip and stability irrespective of driving conditions or road surface.

Company car drivers will also be able to minimise benefit in kind company car tax with a choice of low emission petrol and diesel engines.

A new 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine delivers sub 140g/km emissions with fuel-saving stop-start, but the key business car will be the 1.6-litre TDCi diesel with emissions of 109g/km: its company car tax-banding for 2011/12 will be 13%. The diesel will also qualify for 100% first year corporation tax writing down allowances.

Ford Focus Edge Priced from L15,995 for the 1.6-litre 105PS petrol and L16,995 for the 1.6-litre 95PS TDCi.

Ford Focus Zetec Starts at L16,995 (1.6-litre 105PS petrol) and adds 16in alloy wheels, Quickclear heated front windscreen and door mirrors, leather steering wheel, front fog lamps and sports-style seats.

Ford Focus Titanium From L18,745 (1.6-litre 125PS petrol), comes with supplementary features including keyless start, dual electronic automatic temperature control, Hill Start Assist (HSA), rain-sensing front wipers, automatic headlamps, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, cruise control with speed limiter, premium Sony audio and Ford’s tyre deflation detection system.

Ford Focus Titanium X From L21,245 for the 1.6-litre 150PS EcoBoost petrol, which adds partial leather trim, heated front seats, 17in alloy wheels, Active Park Assist, Bi-Xenon headlamps, LED day running lights, headlamp jet wash, power driver’s seat and power-fold mirrors.

Ford Focus Option Packs Low Speed Safety System, Lane Keeping Aid and Ford’s Blind Spot Information System. Those choosing Sony DAB Navigation will also enjoy the benefits of a rear-view camera.
