BMW is gearing up to show off its next-generation 6 Series at January’s North American International Auto Show.
One unusual twist – BMW will unveil the entire BMW 6 Series line-up at the same time, rather than introducing the Coupé, Convertible and four-door Gran Coupé models separately over several months.

There’s a single diesel engine option and three petrol choices. The 640d has a three-litre diesel straight six producing 313 PS – good enough for a sprint to 62 mph in 5.3 seconds and a governed top speed of 155 mph. CO2 emissions are a comparatively modest 143g/km.
The mainstream petrol options are a 640i (320 PS) and 650i (450 PS) and the sporty M6 model produces 560 PS and a 0-62 mph time of just 4.2 seconds.
All petrol cars have a sports exhaust system with a switchable valve which adds a more intense tone to the engine soundtrack. Features such as Dynamic Damper Control, Active Drive and Integral Active Steering allow owners to create something of a “made-to-measure” driving experience.
BMW will reveal the UK line-up, pricing and specification when the cars are revealed 9 January, but the range will include SE, M Sport and Sport versions, as well as M6 models as the sporting flagships.
The new cars go on sale in the UK from 1 March, 2015.
