The Mercedes SLK – popular with thieves and business car drivers alike

MERCS have always been popular with business car drivers – now we know it’s a taste that’s shared by Britain’s car thieves as well.

90% of cars fitted with a TRACKER are recovered within 24 hours

According to TRACKER, the stolen vehicle recovery operation owned by Direct Line Insurance, Mercedes models accounted for more than £2 million of the £12.5 million worth of cars it reunited with their drivers last year.

Top of the list of recovered models is the Mercedes SLK roadster, followed by the ML-Class 4×4, the C-Class, the CLS and the E-Class.

TRACKER cites British Crime Survey findings that say that half of all stolen cars are never seen again, but says that over 90 per cent of cars fitted with a hidden TRACKER transmitter are recovered within 24 hours. Business car managers take note.
