Citroen joins other van makers with its own LEZ offer incentives

Citroen offers discounts to older van users to enable compliance with forthcoming London LEZ.

CITROEN has responded to Ford’s London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) scrappage scheme – and Volkswagen’s assistance with finance for new LEZ compliant vans – with its own ‘Go Green & Clean Allowance’ of up to £3,500 against the purchase of a new van.

The move is designed to help LCV operators affected by the changes to the London scheme, which come into force on January 3, 2012. From that date, vans, pick-ups and other specialist conversions, weighing more than 1,205kg unladen up to a gross vehicle weight of 3,500 kg, and registered before January 1, 2002, must meet emissions standards to a minimum of Euro 3.

The changes also affect camper vans, motorhomes and ambulances between 2,500kg and 3500kg GVW, and minibuses carrying more than eight passengers up to 5,000kg GVW. Non-compliant vehicles have to pay a £100 daily charge or risk a £500 penalty if their vehicles do not meet the rules.

In April, the registered keepers of the vehicles potentially affected by the extension of the LEZ scheme will receive a notification letter from Transport for London (TfL). The Citro
