IT was the car that really started the change at Hyundai, turning the brand into a real company car competitive brand.
The Hyundai ix35.
And now it’s time for an update with prices and that makes it more appealing to SME owners and company car drivers than ever before.
The range-topping 136PS 2.0-litre diesel CRDi model with four-wheel drive now boasts lower company car tax rates than the outgoing model, with improved economy and lower emissions.
Annual company car tax bills for basic rate tax payers is £1498 (£125 a month), while higher-rate 40% taxpayers are looking at a bill of £2996 (£250 a month). Fuel economy is improved, too: 41.5mpg.
Also of interest to business car managers and company car drivers are the existing 1.7-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engines. These are not available with four-wheel drive, but do offer competitive running costs as a result.
The 1.7-litre diesel is the most impressive, boasting 48.7mpg and 139g/km CO2 emissions (22% company car tax band).
Standard equipment is impressive on the updated Hyundai ix35.
There’s LED daytime running lights, tyre pressure monitoring, alloy wheels, air-con and USB connectivity listed on every model including the base S model.
SE-spec ix35 models add Bluetooth phone connectivity, cruise control, heated seats, rear parking sensors and front fog lights.
Hyundai ix35 SE Nav commands a £1000 premium but adds sat nav, a parking camera and an upgraded stereo to the lengthy list of standard kit.
Tony Whitehorn, president and ceo of Hyundai said: “With the latest enhancements, the New ix35 will deliver an even greater level of value-for-money in this popular segment of the car market.”
It is this model, with the 1.7-litre CRDi diesel engine that will appeal most to SME business owners and company car managers, due to its low running costs and decent specification. Company car drivers who select this model will also escape the tax placed on optional extras.
The facelifted Hyundai ix35 will be on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show (12-22 September) and is available to order now.
Prices start at £16,995 for the entry-level S model with the 1.6-litre petrol engine, while the desirable SE Nav cars with the 1.7-litre diesel engine will cost from £20,995.
