The 109-mile Olympic Route Network (ORN) is now in operation.

While it will undoubtedly help the ‘Olympic family’ get around swiftly, it will cause disruption for company car drivers around London.

And with up to an extra one million visitors expected on each day of the Games, business car and van users who have to travel in London during the event are advised to plan ahead to avoid congestion.

Games Lanes and all road restrictions should be clearly signed. Breaching restrictions could land you a £130 fine – if parked, your vehicle could be removed.

If you haven’t done so already, your business should communicate to customers, suppliers and employees that the Games are likely to affect your operations. If possible, journeys should be planned to avoid the busiest times and days, and its wise to ensure you know when and where road events are taking place.

Every day of the Games will be different, so avoid the busiest times and places and allow more time for company car and van journeys.
