‘DRIVING Luxury’ is the tagline for the new BMW 7 Series, and it’s easy to see why.

The Bavarian motor giant wants its latest offering to be your chance to extend the life of luxury beyond your home. If you own a stunning property and have filled it with the best items money can buy at How To Spend It, why settle for second best when you’re out on the road?

Here’s our guide to the headline features it will offer:

Sound:

The perfect example of not ‘settling for less than the best’ comes with the £5,000 16-speaker stereo system that can be added to a 7 Series model. The Bowers & Wilkins devised system uses diamonds to deliver the very best quality you’ll have ever heard on the road.

Interior:

For BMW, the look and feel r:of the interior of the 7 Series is of vital importance. It aims to create a ‘beautifully crafted world’ – combining the best in luxury fittings, such as massage chairs, with technology to deliver first class comfort and convenience.

Remote parking:

Parking need no longer be a hassle. A simple touch of a button – on a mini-table device – will let the sensors, cameras and controls kick in to slide effortlessly in a space for you.

Controls:

A simple wave of the hand will dismiss an incoming phone call, voice control can tell your sat nav system where you are going while ‘select adaptive’ uses the sat nav and cameras to switch between driving modes on your behalf.

For the passengers, a BMW Touch Command tablet, built into the central armrest in the rear, allows them to control the comfort and entertainment features, which include 10-inch TV screens, Wi-Fi and Blu-ray.

The drive:

The features may be top quality, but they would be nothing without a quality driving experience to back that up. Carbon fibre technology, eight-speed Steptronic transmission and BMW TwinPower Turbo engines aim to ensure that is the case.

Accessories:

Montblanc has developed a collection of selected leather and writing accessories exclusively for the BMW 7 Series, perfect to accompany long, luxurious journeys for those used to the very best.

But, what of the wider impact of the 7 Series?

BMW chief designer Karim Habib told BWMBlog that there will be a continuing trend that sees the luxury of the 7 Series filter down into other models – with the manufacturers’ range as a whole benefitting as a knock-on effect.

He said: “The level of finesse and quality that we have now in the 7 Series interior, you’ll find in the new BMWs coming out on the streets.

“The sporty driver-oriented interior will always be part of BMW’s character and identity, but we’ve now found ways where we can combine that sportiness with that level of quality and finesse and refinement that is expected today of a car luxury manufacturer like BMW.”

The 7 Series, priced from £64,530, is on sale in the UK in October.
