Lotus launched the Evora in 2009, yet it remains a very rare sight on British roads. It ticks the ‘beauty, exclusivity and talking points-with-clients’ emphatically. It also offers a mind-blowing drive with lots of aural theatre from an engaging V6 engine, but crucial practical touches too, such as a good boot and ample ground clearance for speed bumps. But it costs too much to buy when compared to razor sharp competitors such as Porsche’s new Boxster Spyder (£46k) and BMW’s Z4 35i (from £38.5k). Don’t forget that the new, entry-level, 1.6-litre Lotus Elise achieves CO2 emissions of 155g/km, below the crucial level for efficient tax-writedowns in the UK, which makes the Elise a better business car alternative.
