In the longer term, Jeep wants to boost annual production from the 798,000 units it made in 2013 to about 1.9 million in 2018. And its not just a question of numbers – traditionally, all Jeeps have been made in North America but almost half will be built in other parts of the world by 2018.
Underpinning the planned growth – product launches, including a new C-segment SUV to replace the Patriot and Compass, an updated Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, and, in 2018, a new super-sized range-topper with the return of the Grand Wagoneer.
At the same time, Jeep wants to grow its dealer network from 4706 to 6023, with the emphasis on the fast-growing markets of Latin America and Asia-Pacific.
