ABOUT 13,500 Porsche cars are being recalled to fix a risk on Cayenne and Panamera models.

The world-wide recall is to fix a suspect seal on the cars powered by Porsche’s 3.0-litre V6 engine, reports Bloomberg.
Porsche is recalling about 13,500 vehicles worldwide to fix a seal that may allow fuel to evaporate and possibly conbust.
The recall affects both hybrid and petrol powered models built from March 2011 until May 2012.

The Porsche recall includes 9,135 cars that the Chinese General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said need repairs because of the risk of fumes catching fire.

Rules in China specify that a recall announcement outline the worst-case scenario, although no such incidents have been reported, a Porsche spokesman said.

The Chinese regulator also issued a recall for 51,911 FAW-Volkswagen and Volkswagen vehicles for the same fault as in the Porsche models.

Volkswagen is recalling 185 Touareg SUVs in Germany from model year 2012 that use the same engine. The model shares underpinnings with Porscheโ€™s Cayenne.
