Maggie’s Xtreme 3 Challenge

RUN

  • Running sections include a punishing mix of steep hill climbs and rough terrain

ROW

  • Fierce cross-winds, freezing water temperatures and choppy conditions make the kayaking part of the challenge no plain sailing

RIDE

  • The cycling sections include the rough roads, steep inclines and treacherous descents of the Highlands

ON the 11th September 2015, Fleet Alliance Commercial Director David Blackmore will start a mammoth three day endurance test that will see him run, row, and ride 165 miles from Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland to Glasgow.

The Maggie’s Xtreme 3 challenge is in aid of Maggie’s Cancer Centres. The initial target for the event is £10,000 and the company is looking for support in the form of sponsorship and donations.

The fundraising challenge is without limits, and will see David pushed to extremes in order to raise awareness for the great work done by Maggie’s.

The Maggie’s Xtreme 3 Challenge – that was conceived and planned by David himself – will see him run, kayak, and cycle from Maggie’s Centre in Inverness all the way to Maggie’s Centre in Glasgow in only three days.

The routes are stunning but they are also punishing and the scale of the challenge is truly daunting. Day two alone is equivalent to more than two back-to-back marathon distances, made even more difficult by the inclusion of a number punishing climbs.

David is a veteran fundraiser and has previously participated in four Maggie’s Monster Bike and Hike events. He has skydived from 30,000 feet, cycled around North Kintyre and the Firth of Clyde for the Five Ferries Challenge, and spent seven days in Nairobi to help raise awareness of Siloam Orphanage and the invaluable work they do to educate children who face extreme poverty.

Over the last six years, Fleet Alliance has collectively raised over £200,000 for many charities, with Maggie’s Cancer Centres being one of those closest to its heart. Maggie’s provides free of charge practical, social and emotional support for people facing cancer, including their family and friends.

Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres have professional staff to offer the support that people need.

The charity work that the company undertakes is called “Fleet Alliance Loves”, due to the fact that it underpins its work ethic: “improving ourselves both personally and professionally by having fun, performing work for charity and caring for the environment”.
