WHEN we made the Ford Focus 1.0T EcoBoost our current Company Car of the Year at the beginning of 2012, there were a few eyebrows raised.
How could a petrol car win a company car of the year award? Why not the diesel?
Good questions, but the new 1.0T EcoBoost engine offers a lightweight engine – meaning the car is agile to drive – and low CO2 emissions. Which means it’s good on company car tax, and easy on the fuel, too.
For example, a company car driver will pay just £42 per month in company car tax to drive the swishly specified Titanium version of the Ford Focus 1.0T EcoBoost at the 20% marginal rate.
Official fuel consumption is over 56mpg, although we’ve tested the car over a longer period and found that 44mpg is a more reliable figure in everyday use.
We’ve not been the only people to recognise the brilliance of the new EcoBoost engine in the Ford Focus. The engine was voted International Engine of the Year.
You can try the Ford EcoBoost engine – small enough to fit on an A4 sheet of paper – in other Ford ranges, such as the Ford B-MAX and the Ford C-MAX. The engine, designed at Ford’s Technical Centre in Dunton, UK, will also go into the replacement Mondeo, too.
Have a look at our company car video review and see if you agree with our verdict on the Ford Focus 1.0T EcoBoost.
And will it win our Company Car of the Year award again? We’re in the final stages of judging – the award winners will be announced on January 03, 2103. And see if the Ford Focus EcoBoost can retain its company car crown.
The SME Company Car of the Year Awards 2012 are presented by Business Car Manager in association with MAGMA Automotive Services.
