WE all know that British company car buyers love the Ford Focus and now, it seems, they are in good company.
According to automotive market data specialists Polk, Ford’s Golf-sized hatch doesn’t just dominate company car parks in the UK – it’s the world’s biggest selling vehicle too.
Over one million examples of the Focus were sold last year – 1,020,410 to be precise. And Ford’s Fiesta, another favourite with UK business motorists, was the best selling sub-compact, with 723,130 registrations in 2012. Of those totals, 83,115 of the Focus sales and 109,265 of the Fiesta registrations were in the UK, where the Fiesta is the best-selling car of all; the Focus is in second place.
Thanks to the company’s ‘One Ford’ approach aimed at simplifying operations and achieving high levels of efficiency, the differences between local versions of big company car sellers such as the Fiesta and Focus have largely been eliminated, providing a very similar driving experience for owners everywhere.
“Focus and Fiesta represent the culmination of our One Ford global product strategy,” said Jim Farley, Ford executive vice president, Global Marketing, Sales and Service and Lincoln.
“Our global products are resonating with consumers – especially in the best-selling, most competitive segments – with their unique combination of fuel efficiency, high quality, rich content and fun-to-drive personalities. Through One Ford, we’re able to bring economies of scale and fantastic value to customers all around the world.”
