Ford Kuga 2.5T Titanium

What is it?

The flagship Ford Kuga.

New top-spec 2.5T model gets a detuned 197bhp version of the same five-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine found in the Focus ST and RS. Comes in range-topping Titanium trim only.

What’s hot?

  • Gutsy engine rockets the Kuga along with real vigour…
  • …and 320Nm of torque from 1,600rpm makes overtaking easy
  • First class refinement makes for excellent motorway ability
  • Agile chassis and sharp steering make for great fun on twisty roads
  • Cabin quality is beyond reproach
  • Four-wheel drive system offers more than enough off-road ability
  • Climate and cruise control, part-leather upholstery are standard
  • Spot on styling too

What’s not?

  • To say it’s thirsty is an understatement…
  • …Expect sub-20mpg in most conditions
  • And it’s not clean either…
  • …234g/km of CO2 means a 34% company car tax banding in 2009
  • Engine is almost too refined with little of its characterful warble
  • No more space in the back than a Focus estate

Business Car Manager Road Test Rating

A lovely car to drive and one of the best petrol-engined SUVs money can buy. But makes absolutely no sense for businesses thanks to its dipsomaniac thirst and sky-high CO2 emissions. Go for the 2.0 TDCi Ford Kuga instead for the company car tax saving.
