Golf R Estate

What’s not?

  • At over £33,000 the R estate is pricy alongside rivals, and of it’s a focus on practicality you’re looking for the Skoda Octavia vRS Estate is a more affordable and spacious option.
  • It’s no deal breaker but the Golf is only offered with a DSG gearbox. The Leon ST Cupra comes as a manual meaning if you prioritise driver engagement its definitely worth considering.

Verdict on the Golf R Estate?

As an all rounder the Golf R Estate delivers. It’s just as engaging as the hatch, while offering a greater amount of practicality for only a fractional increase to your company car tax bills. However, if you take advantage of the performance on offer you’re unlikely to return anyway close to the claimed 40mpg economy figure.

For cost conscious buyers, the new GTD Estate will make more financial sense with cheaper annual tax bills and significantly better running costs.
