HONDA is expanding its hybrid line up

A new Honda Insight, a five-door hatchback, will be introduced next year.

The Honda Insight promises low running costs for small businesses.

The Honda Insight will be bigger than the new Jazz, but smaller than the current four-door Honda Civic Hybrid model. However, it will be a five-seater five-door hatchback

Although its price has yet to be announced, it will cost in the region of £12,000-£15,000.

It suggests the Honda Insight will be extremely economical for small businesses to operate. The current Honda Civic Hybrid has emissions of 109g/km; as the new Insight is smaller and more aerodynamic, expect a CO2 figure below 100g/km and around 70mpg fuel economy.

What are the benefits to a small business?

  • If you purchase, the Honda Insight will qualify for 100% first year writing down allowance
  • If you contract hire, 100% of the rentals will be allowable against tax from 01 April
  • The Honda Insight will qualify for the low emission company car tax band of only 10%
  • It will qualify for a 100% discount from the London Congestion Charge
  • If emissions are below 100g/km, road tax (VED) will be free.

The new Honda Insight will bring the number of hybrid Hondas up to two.

But over the next two years we can expect a hybrid sports car – the CR-Z – and a hybrid version of the Honda Jazz.

The concept version of the Honda Insight was launched at the Paris Show last month.
