Graham Harrison is a self-employed photographer. To get to photoshoots, he runs a BMW – his third – which between them have covered close to 750,000 miles.

His list of clients is wide and varied: the Telegraph Magazine, Vogue, Car Magazine, and The Audi Magazine are some.

His choice of business car, however, is less diverse. Currently Graham – a sole trader – runs a 2001 320i, his third BMW.

Graham’s previous car was also a BMW 320i. This served him from 1983 to 2001. And 320,000 miles.

Graham anticipates a similar life for his latest car. “Rather like my cameras I’ll run it until it’s technically redundant, or no longer works.”

The current BMW was financed through BMW’s own HP scheme over five years. It allowed Graham to afford the specification he wanted: leather seats, upgraded hi-fi system and so on.

“I’m fussy. You have to be as a photographer. If I’m going to spend time in my car travelling to shoots I want it to be comfortable and detailed to my liking,” says Graham.

However, the 320i isn’t always first choice transport. Graham’s current project is chronicling Oxford life (www.theoxfordyear.com). “It’s easier to get around on the bus to capture the right images,” says Graham.”On those occasions I leave the BMW at home. “
