New Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel offers business car drivers a company car tax bill starting from £111
Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel: 22% company car tax band

THE new Jaguar XF 2.2 diesel will cost from £30,250 – or £30,950 on the road – when it goes on sale in September, giving the XF 2.2 Diesel SE model a benefit in kind value of £6655 for company car tax purposes.

With CO2 emissions of 149g/km, that means the Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel will have a company car tax banding of 22%.

For a business car driver on the 20% tax rate, that’s a monthly benefit in kind company car tax cost of £111 a month – and £222 at the 40% tax rate for the Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel SE model.

Although company car tax rates are higher than its key rivals – the new Audi A6 and the new BMW 520 – demand for the Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel is sure to be strong from both small business owners and directors of SME firms.

Until now, the key business car was the more expensive 3.0-litre V6 Diesel model, but with CO2 emissions above the key 160g/km capital allowances tax break, and high levels of company car tax, the XF – despite its alluring styling – has been of limited appeal to business car managers. However, the XF 2.2 Diesel is likely to change that situation.

How the Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel SE compares on company car tax

    • Audi A6 2.0 TDI SE, company car tax band 18%, BIK value £5416

    • BMW 520d SE, company car tax band 18%, BIK value £5288

  • Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel SE, company car tax band 22%, BIK value £6655

The new 2.2 diesel engine in the Jaguar XF develops 190PS and 332lbs ft of torque and is linked to a new eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox and a fuel-saving innovative Stop-Start system – a first for Jaguar. The result is combined economy in excess of 50mpg and CO2 emissions of 149g/km.

Along with the introduction of the new 2.2 diesel, the 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel has been upgraded. The engines continue in 240PS standard and 275PS Diesel S form, but CO2 emissions have been improved to 169g/km – still the wrong side of the key capital allowances tax break – and mpg improved to 44.8mpg.

There are also a pair of V8 petrol engines to choose from in the latest Jaguar XF range, developing 385PS and, in supercharged XFR form, a whopping 510PS.

Updated styling for new Jaguar XF

The latest Jaguar XF features an all-new look to the front end with slim new headlight units, and distinctive LED lighting strips sitting either side of a larger, more upright grille. A lower bonnet line complete with a pronounced, wider power bulge running down the centre, new look lower bumper section with three airdams, the outside pair feature twisted chrome fins.

Further back, a pair of subtle new vents are mounted to the front wings complete with Jaguar script set into the chrome strip. At the rear of the car the tail lamp units have been redesigned with LED technology, while the units themselves now extend further into the boot lid with a new chrome blade sitting below a simple Jaguar ‘leaper’ badge.

High performance Diesel S models benefit from a host of additional upgrades including full aerodynamic styling, adaptive dynamic suspension (as on XFR) and an ‘R’ performance interior.

The range-topping XFR takes the new look adopted by the XF a step further with a trio of deep airdams dominating the front of the car with a set of cooling vents set into the bonnet either side of the power bulge. New sill extensions run down the side of the car along with redesigned 20-inch alloy wheels. At the rear the new lights sit above a redesigned bumper complete with a subtle diffuser.

Across the new XF range advances have been made in refinement with active engine mounts for the diesels models, and new sound deadening material featuring on the car as well as redesigned wing mirrors to reduce wind noise.

According to Jaguar, the new XF sets new benchmarks in the suppression of road noise.

The interior of the XF has also been given a subtle refresh with a restyled steering wheel, revised switchgear for the ventilation systems and all-new colour central and dial-mounted screens relaying reprogrammed navigation and entertainment software.

Redesigned seats offer a new look and greater support with fresh trim finishes.

The new XF will go on sale in September with prices starting at £30,950 for the 2.2-litre diesel engine rising to £65,350 for the XFR.
