HAVING already picked up countless awards, it’s no surprise that our independent panel of expert judges picked Jaguar’s XF as the SME Company Car of the Year – as well as The Best Large SME Company Car

The 2.0 163PS diesel R-Sport Auto provides an impressive balance between the needs of the business, driver and family.

50+ fuel economy for sports oriented car

Powered by Jaguar’s own four-cylinder ‘Ingenium’ engine, it promises fuel economy of 68.9mpg, and CO2 emissions of just 109g/km.

For such a large, capacious and sporting car, the company car tax rating is 26% for the 2018/19 tax year. The result is a competitive company car tax bill of just over £312 a month for those paying a 40% rate of tax; half that for those at 20%.

Jaguar XF - anatomy of a company car winnerThe Jaguar XF 18MY was designed to appeal to SME business and fleet customers, boasting total cost of ownership figures amongst the best in class thanks to the lightweight, aluminium-intensive architecture and all-aluminium Ingenium engines. Long service intervals and class-leading residual values make perfect business-sense too.

Fortunately, it’s not just money that matters with this Jaguar. The old adage of space, pace and grace was never more true with the XF, the car having a distinctive and elegant silhouette that is unmistakably Jaguar. The seductive design isn’t at the expense of dynamics either, with the XF being well regarded when it comes to making progress.

The lightweight construction helps dynamics, while the front double wishbone and integral rear link suspension ensures the car remains firmly attached to the road surface at all times, without upsetting the ride quality

The remarkably refined ride cossets the passengers, allowing them to relax in the luxurious cabin and enjoy the technology fitted to the car, with both safety and connectivity in mind. Forward Vehicle Guidance and Blind Spot Assist (optional) take the stress out of driving, while the optional Dual View InControl infotainment system allows you and your passengers to view different information on the same screen, at the same time – including live television!

High performance engines

For those wanting extra performance, Jaguar has the XF 300 available in both petrol and diesel. But for business motoring, it’s the blend of efficiency and performance that marks out the 163PS 2.0-litre diesel.

For example, 0-62mph is despatched in just 8.2 seconds, which is not dissimilar to a number of hot hatches, but the smooth 8-speed automatic gearbox and quiet diesel engine means it’s not at the expense of luxurious sensations.

Ultimately it’s the money that matters though, and that’s where the XF excels. Strong residuals lead to excellent leasing options, while impressive economy, low tax rates and dealer financing available from under £380 per month makes a compelling argument for looking in Jaguar’s direction. A three-year warranty and a high-mileage service plan seeing the car off the road just once every 21,000 miles just adds to the appeal (petrol models, though, will require slightly more frequent services).

No wonder the independent judges of the SME Company Car of the Year Awards picked the Jaguar XF 18MY as the overall winner.
