The latter teams at each outlet, however, are led by what Kwik Fit has labelled “master technicians” trained to the highest level recognised by Automotive Technician Accreditation. Previously, Kwik Fit has relied on a small number of such technicians travelling between centres to oversee more challenging servicing work.

“Between the upgraded centres and the intensified skills – there is increased focus on training and development for all employees. Kwik Fit is acquiring full capability to handle the most complicated electrical and mechanical repair work,” says Lambert.
The next clutch of ‘Plus’ outlets, concentrated in South-East England because of the large number of firms operating company cars clustered in the region, will be open by the end of this year at Basildon, Basingstoke, Billericay, Chelmsford, East Grinstead, Gillingham, Gravesend, London and Tonbridge.
Like all ‘Plus’ centres, they will operate on a seven-day week basis, with extended opening hours. “We’re well aware that businesses can’t afford to lose the use of their vehicles during the working day, which is why we are staying open on a seven-day basis and for longer hours than the franchised networks,” says Lambert.
“We’ll be looking also at extending opening hours until even later in the evening to better cater to small businesses and sole traders,” adds Lambert who says the extra facility will be in addition to a fleet of 200 vehicles it operates providing a mobile tyre fitting service mainly to business users.
So if you want to get the servicing costs down, compared or your service levels improved look out for Kwik Fit Plus – it could add a minus to your company car servicing bills.
