McLaren Automotive, the maker of the high performance sports car such as the 12C, is underpinning its racy image with the solid presence of Mike Flewitt, Ford’s former Vice President of Manufacturing at Ford of Europe.
Mike takes up the role of Chief Operating Officer at McLaren Automotive.
McLaren says that Flewitt’s appointment is a new and strategic position which will add to the executive team at a critical time as the sports car maker embarks on a new period of growth.
Mike, who in addition to his VP role of manufacturing at Ford, was also Corporate Officer at Ford Motor Company, will include in his new duties Operations, Purchasing and Logistics, Vehicle Programmes and Technical Development.
“I have watched the story of McLaren Automotive with admiration and now that I am part of it, the more I hear, the more impressed I am with what the team has achieved. I’m also excited to be joining at this very moment just as the company enters a new chapter,” commented Mike on the business car news of his appointment.
Mike spent nine years at Ford. Previous to that, Mike held senior manufacturing and operations roles at TWR Group Limited, AutoNova AB and Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars Limited.
