THREE new premium executive bruiser-cruisers have been launched by Mercedes-Benz majoring both on performance and fuel efficiency.
Leading the charge is the hugely powerful Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupé which brings a four-door coupé look to the SUV sector.
We see great potential in this vehicle segment, which is new to Mercedes-AMG
With its AMG 5.5-litre V8 bi-turbo engine in with the highly sporty S‑Model, pumping out 585 hp, it will be the only version available in the UK. This beast blasts to 62mph in just 4.2 seconds and comes with the AMG ride control sports suspension with active roll stabilisation, Active Curve System and the Sports Direct-Steer system. The 4MATIC all-wheel drive with rear-biased power distribution and the Dynamic Select transmission modes promise to deliver what distinguishes every AMG vehicle: driving performance.
Tobias Moers, chairman of the board of management of Mercedes-AMG, said: “We see great potential in this vehicle segment, which is new to Mercedes-AMG. The GLE 63 Coupé is the logical progression of our ambitious growth strategy – after all, in 1999 with the first high-performance SUV ML 55 AMG, we established a completely new segment. The new GLE 63 Coupé will inspire SUV fans focused on dynamics while at the same time representing a new interpretation of driving performance.”
The V8 powerplant, also returns a claimed 23.7 mpg (combined) and emits 279 g/km of CO2 while complying with the EU6 standards.
Just 0.7 seconds behind in the standing start sprint comes the new C 450 AMG Sport 4MATIC.
