AN all-new Audi A6 executive saloon will go on sale in spring 2011.

The new Audi A6 will ensure huge business car appeal thanks to a benefit in kind company car tax banding of just 18% for the 2011/12 tax year.

The latest Audi A6 features a 177PS 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that emits just 129g/km CO2, giving the car 57.7mpg economy.

The new Audi matches the new BMW 520d exactly on emissions; the 520d has CO2 of 129g/km and fuel economy of 57.65mpg.

The use of lightweight materials, including aluminium and high-tech steels, has enabled a 15% reduction in weight while slippery aerodynamics – a 0.26 Cd drag coefficient – also help the car move efficiently through the air.

In addition to the low emission diesel, a petrol-electric hybrid model will also be introduced. While its CO2 emissions will not be on a par with the diesel – it only manages 45.6mpg – it will be able to travel in zero emission mode in urban areas. Audi says the 2.0 TFSI engine will have 245PS on tap.

Other engine choices will include two further diesels – a 204PS 3.0-litre TDI; a 245PS 3.0-litre TDI; and a 300PS 3.0-litre TFSI petrol engine.

Front-wheel drive Audi A6 models will be available with manual or CVT multitronic auto; while quattro four-wheel drive models will come with standard S tronic automatic transmissions.

There will be the choice of SE and S line trims.

Standard specification includes Milano leather, Audi’s Multi Media Interface (MMI) with 6.5-inch retractable monitor and large central control knob to control the audio system, alloy wheels, cruise, parking sensors, Bluetooth phone interface and the SD card-based navigation system.

As an option, there’s an 8-inch monitor and fingertip sensitive touch pad if you want to upgrade from MMI to MMI Touch. As well as ultra-intelligent 3D navigation mapping, using Google Earth mapping, the new MMI Touch system can store audio tracks and telephone data on its hard drive. To access the Google Earth mapping sat-nav, Mobile Telephone Preparation High option needs to be specified.

This option of Google Earth mapping enables drivers to plot detailed routes on a home computer and download them to the navigation system when they start a trip. Google Earth images are also beamed via the car’s internal UMTS module to the MMI monitor for navigation. Through its wireless local area network link passengers will also be able to connect to the internet using their own computers.

The new Audi A6 can be ordered from January 2011.

The range will be priced from £30,145 OTR (including VAT at 20%).
